Poems/Thoughts/Quotes and Dreams

22 January 2011  “Quotes”

The following “quote” I found on the blog of Deborah Brodie, a Freelance Editor, Book Doctor, Writing Coach and Teacher of Creative Writing.   It resonated with me as I feel the urge to write meaningful stories which touch my heart.  Then that, is what I will do..

“Forget being able to ‘write about anything,’ I think writers should write about what they love, what engages their hearts and minds most fully, deeply and truly. This may well turn out to be what you know, but it may also be what you need to learn. Writing then becomes the mental fuel that feeds the spiritual hunger.”

Yona Zeldis McDonough, author of Breaking the Bank
and The Doll Shop Downstairs

   Don Brown, author/illustrator of
All Stations! Distress!:

  • “William Zinsser, On Writing Well: ‘There’s no sentence that’s too short in the eyes of God.’

23 January 2011   “Quotes”

Here are a couple more quotes that are more in apt with this blog:

“When you have come to the edge of all the light you know, and are about to step off into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things will happen: there will either be something solid to stand on or you will be taught how to fly”

-Anonymous

“Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities.  Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.”

-Gloria Steinem

Thought I would share a poem I wrote  earlier today, which sprung up in my head after a comment was made by a friend.

Loosen Up

 Loosen Up and be Free

 don’t listen to the harsh,

be yourself it is the key,

 take your time never rush.

Look at yourself and understand,

 loosen up by letting go,

put your trust in anothers hand,

and the joy begins to flow.

Look in the right direction,

see wonders all around,

loosen up for you will learn,

there are friends to be found.

Life is what you will make it,

release the pressures of the day,

  loosen up and invite,

 letting go and walk away.

No more stress no more pain,

loosen up and you will see,

there is sunshine no more rain,

oh the joy of being free.

The following was my first attempt at Poetry written for a friend.

Behind the Door

In your heart, behind the door,

there is a warm and soft place,

where treasures remembered are kept,

bringing a smile to your lips a tear to your eye,

and dreams for you to enjoy.

Yes in your heart, behind the door

lies memories of a time gone by,

a special moment, a loving word, a thought,

where a tender hug, a beautiful smile,

are there for you to remember.

Yes in your heart, behind the door,

a special place will always be,

of fun filled outings of long ago,

or a time spent sitting quietly,

having known the pleasure of ones company.

Yes in your heart, behind the door,

loved ones never to be forgotten ,

will remind you from where you came,

and guide where your destiny lies,

remember always their faith in you.

Yes in your heart, there is a door,

where loving friends come knocking,

with open arms to comfort you,

and tender words of wisdom,

to sustain you in this time of need.

Yes in your heart, behind the door,

remember like the seasons,

life will go on, like the sun you will smile again,

for you have a warm and special place,

to remember all those treasured moments.

I originally put up a post in memory of a lovely lady but took it down.  When I saw it the next day it seemed to personal…… so here is the poem I wrote for her….. a small tribute to a lovely lady, who was always kind and smiled on me.

                                                   Our Audrey

We miss your warm smile, we miss you dearly,
A gentle sweet lady we have known as Luvjulie.
The Lord above has seen fit to take you,
Saving a special seat for the privileged few.
Yes I believe you will smile on us again,
Your star a guiding light our darling friend.
And as always you will guide us home,
And for sure no one will feel left alone.

An angel warm, bright and sincere,
It is our time now, to offer up a gentle prayer.
To applaud all that you were to each of us, each day,
This sweet, loving, joyful gentle lady.
For most of us we never met her,
For all of us we know her, and hold her near.
The lord will smile on our dear lady,
For she is our special friend, our dear Audrey.
